Smithy

PlasticWasters
Wasters are made from a high
impact plastic. Due to the nature of the material they will flex and tend to
slide together in the bind much like steel does. They also bounce less than wood
does. While these will stand up to more wear and tear than a wood waster, they
can be broken through heavy abuse. It is also a good idea to avoid over
exposure to extreme heat or cold (same as wood). Strong sunlight is the enemy
of plastic, protect your waster from extreme exposure such as spending a hot
day in your car with direct exposure to the sun.

Bucklers
I have two types of bucklers, both
are 12 inches in Diamater. One is formed from ¼ inch ABS plastic and the other is
formed from 16 gage steel with a rolled edge. The plastic buckler works well
with padded weapons, wooden wasters, and steel blunts. The steel buckler is
much harder on padded weapons and wooden wasters, but it works well with steel
blunts.

Hi, my name is Brian Hunt owner
of The Dwarven Smithy. I have been producing my own goods and equipment since I
was very young. I started making armour at the age of 17 and have been
interested in swords and armour for most of my life. At this time I am
producing goods aimed at the study of Western Martial Arts. Though I am willing
to disucuss special projects with interested clients.

The Name the Dwarven Smithy has a
personal story behind it. When I was 17 I had a strong interest in armour and
wanted my own suit. I couldn’t afford to purchase one so I thought about making
one. A friend game me the remains of a volkswagon body so I decided to try and
make a suit of armour out of it. I put an anvil in my bedroom, bought myself
some heavy duty tin snips, gathered together a few hammers and proceeded to
make a crude suit of armour. Since I was so absorbed in my project I was
working on it late into the night. When my parents got sick of the night time
noise, my mother hung a sign on my door that said “The Dwarven Smithy, working
hours from 9 am to 9 pm, closed at all other hours.” After that, the name kind
of stuck.
