Kristin Arnasson Gudmundsdotter Hreinson - 26 May 1910
Funeral services were held in the First ward meeting house Saturday afternoon over the remains of Mrs. John Hreinson, who died last Thursday morning at six o'clock at the age of fifty-five years at her home in First ward. Mrs. Hreinson's health has been on the decline for a long time past and during the five weeks preceeding her death she had been confined to her bed, suffering with catarrh of the stomach.
The house was filled to overflowing with friends and relatives who had come to pay their last respects to the departed.
Bishop R.W. McKell presided over the services. Henry Tilley offered the opening prayer. The speakers were Gesli Bjarnason, Ira J. McKell and Wm. Johnson, all of whom bore a faithful testimony to the sterling life and character of the deceased. Lars W. Nielsen rendered a very appropriate solo in a beautiful manner. The benediction was pronounced by Joseph E. Wilkens.
None but those who have sat in the shadow of a great bereavement can justly weigh such a sorrow as this. Those who have gone down into the valley of suffering and stood for months by the side of a loved one as hope after hope dropped away as the petals fall from a fading flower know that such anquish cannot find solace in the tenderest words. She who has gone forth could not be supported on her solitary path by any earthly friend. The husband, whose heroic devotion never faltered, could not detain her by the clasp of earthly love; but after the last word had been spoken, the last sign of recognition was gone, a look of peace, which proclaimed victory settled on her face and he knew she was resting on a mighty arm.
